A specialist in geology and geophysics, David launched International Geoscience Services in 2010, spinning out from the British Geological Survey, for which he had worked since 1991. Building on his network of international contacts, knowledge of government and private sector systems, he became Chairman of IGS, before retiring from full-time employment in 2013. He continues to serve as a non-executive director.
He has served as a non-executive director for seven years on the boards of Rainbow Seed Fund Ltd, which specialises in science spin-outs from research councils, and its holding company, Spectrum General Partner. He has also served as non-executive chairman of South East African Mining Ltd, a London-based exploration company with gold interests in Malawi. He has also joined the boards of Blenheim Natural Resources plc, Avenco Ld and is currently the non-executive chairman of Kalahari Key Mineral Exploration (Pty) Ltd, a Botswana-registered company with key nickel and platinum assets.
David recently acted as a consultant for the World Bank on African geoscience data, and is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed papers and reports. He was awarded an MBE in 2010 for his services to international science.
