Virginie Bahon is a senior bilingual English/French marketing and communications professional with twenty years' successful global leadership experience in the natural resources sector.
Virginie currently leads the communications and corporate affairs function at Valcambi. She works with Levin Sources on a project basis.
Previously, Virginie worked for global organisations including Shell, BP, GE and Rio Tinto in Guinea, Mongolia, Qatar, Algeria, France, the UK and Italy, and has a proven track record for delivering communications strategies within some of the world’s most challenging and complex multi-cultural environments.
She has extensive expertise in corporate communications, responsible mining and sourcing communications (with special focus on precious metals), brand and reputation management, crisis communications, M&A/business integration communications, change communications, and engagement and communication with governments and communities, among others.
In her work, Virginie consults with and advises a diverse group of stakeholders at every level, from CEOs to government officials to local community leaders.
Virginie has been involved in numerous projects including:
- Supporting Valcambi on its change journey towards further transparency and best practices, positioning the company as responsible leader in the gold sector, and protecting the company’s reputation.
- Leading the communications for a European Commission project that aimed at supporting SMEs that have minerals in their supply chains to conduct due diligence on their supply chains.
- Heading communications for Rio Tinto’s $20bn iron ore Simandou project in Guinea.
- Leading communications for the Rio Tinto copper and gold mine Oyu Tolgoi in Mongolia.
