The Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030 has launched Conscious Craft, a four-part responsible sourcing guide specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises in the watch and jewellery industry.
SMEs form the backbone of the global jewellery industry, representing more than half of all jewellery sales across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. But while larger companies have dedicated teams to navigate evolving regulations and stakeholder expectations, SMEs often lack the resources and need tailored, practical support.
Responsible business practices are a business imperative now, driven by fast-evolving regulations, changing consumer expectations, and growing demands for transparency, responsible sourcing, and environmental accountability. Millennials and Gen Z want to understand the origins and impacts of the products they buy, putting SMEs on the frontlines of these expectations.
Conscious Craft distils the core principles of responsible sourcing into a straightforward roadmap. The guide covers how the definition of 'responsibility' in jewellery has evolved, how to map your supply chains, practical advice on sourcing gold, coloured gemstones, and diamonds responsibly, and how to stay current with industry changes.
Conscious Craft is a publication of the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, developed in partnership with Nature's Wealth LLC, Levin Sources, and A Positive Impact.
