Chiko Manda is the Managing Partner of Perekezi ASM Consults and has over 17 years of demonstrated background working in the ASM sector, focusing on responsible sourcing and mineral supply chains, research, governance, and social accountability. He has worked tirelessly to ensure that mining operations are conducted ethically and responsibly. Chiko has been involved in many initiatives in the mining sector that promote sustainable mining for social economic development in Malawi and drive positive change within the industry. With his deep understanding of the complexities and challenges associated with ASM, he has been part ofseveral initiatives that promote transparent mineral supply chains and ethical business practices.
Additionally, Chiko’s commitment to good governance and social accountability has driven him to create platforms for dialogue that promote stakeholder engagement, transparency, and accountability in the mining industry. By fostering communication and cooperation, he has helped bridge the gap between policymakers, local mining communities, and many other stakeholders, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are addressed. His efforts in governance have also included capacity building initiatives that have enhanced the knowledge of civil society, the media, parliamentarians, and other stakeholders, enabling them to execute
their oversight roles diligently. He also hosts a monthly online discussion whereby he talks to industry experts and other stakeholders in Malawi on mining issues to create awareness of the sector among the public.
