Expert in the governance of extractive resources

Désiré NIKIEMA is an economist specialising in natural resources and the environment, with expertise in the governance of extractive resources (mines and oil).

He is currently preparing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) and is also a graduate of the international Master's program in the management of the impacts of extractive activities and development. He holds a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences and another in Agricultural Economics, Natural Resources, and the Environment.

Désiré NIKIEMA supports public administrations, non-governmental organisations, mining companies and artisanal mining organisations in Africa and beyond in the economic, social and environmental governance of extractive resources.

Mr NIKIEMA is currently the West Africa coordinator of the international NGO Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM).

He is also the focal point in Burkina Faso for the LDC/PMA Watch Observatory, an international network of civil society organisations in the 46 least developed countries (LDCs) in Africa, Asia-Pacific and Haiti.

He is also the president of the association known as 'Oasis for the Good Governance of Resources' (ORE).
